Q:
How long will it take to get my bike painted?
A: That depends on the
complexity of the job. For starters, all bikes are different. Is it two fenders,
side covers and a tank or fenders, covers, tank, fairing, spoiler and hard
saddle bags? You may want to strip all the parts off and paint the frame and
brake-calipers. Then there is the option of a one color overall or, for
instance, a multi-color with double flames. You could decide for us to customize
your fenders by adding recessed LED brakes lights. So as you can see, it depends
on what you can imagine and want.
Q:
What kind of paint do you use?
A: I primarily use Sikkens
and House of Kolor. All paint jobs are clear coated with polyurethane clear that
contain long lasting agents that protect against UV rays.
Q:
Do I bring my bike or just the parts off my bike?
A: It depends on the job.
If repairs need to be made that require some alignments or if it is an overall
graphic paint job, the bike needs to be brought complete. But in most cases only
the parts are required to do one tone, two tone, pearls, candy apple, marble,
chameleon, flip flop, flake, etc.
Q: What
about my dents and scratches?
A: I will not paint over
dents and scratches! All dents and scratches will be repaired. The dents will
either be hammered out, pulled out or filled. An etched primer will be used
where required and a then a hi-build primer overall. Then sanded and blocked
smooth and straight before painting. All to insure a clean looking
surface.
Q:
What about my bike frame?
A: Yes, your bike frame
can be sprayed, as well as, brake calipers, battery box and helmet to match.
Removal of the engine and other components are up to you.
Q: What
about mechanic work?
A: Yes some mechanic work
can be performed while we have your bike. Some services are plugs, oil change,
and gear oil.
Q: Can you
put on different custom parts like fenders and tanks?
A: Yes, custom parts such
as stretch tanks, fenders, fairings, spoilers, hand grips, mirrors and other
chrome parts can be done during the painting process. We can also customize
your existing parts.
Q: What
about color?
A: All colors can be done.
There are no limits, whether be one tone, two tone, pearls, candy apple, marble,
chameleon, flip flop, flake, etc. Also available is silver and gold leafing.
Q: Why did you
pick Black Beard for you name?
A: Well you see that logo?
It is not that far off except maybe the buccaneer hat and teeth and maybe it is
a little heavier. All of his friends, buddies and customers called him black
beard. He was a take no prisoner kind of person. And for as long as I have
known him he had a black beard. So I am just trying to bring some of the old to
a new horizon.
Q: Okay, now
my question to you.
A: Does any one have a Hot
Rod magazine about 1967 or 1968 that featured the Uncle Sam. I would love to
know. The Uncle Sam was a 1957 nomad wagon. Sorry Idon’t know what issue. |
